Shang-Yang is a violist who has been studying in Birmingham Conservatoire in the UK, under the coaching of Robin Ireland, former member of Lindsay String Quartet. He is currently teaching violin and viola base in Tamsui, New Taipei City. Shang-Yang has is currently studying the master degree in the National Taipei University of Art.

Shang-Yang started his music learning journey on the piano when he was four years-old, and regarded the violin as his first instrument from the age of seven.  By the age of fifteen , Shang-Yang began to learn the viola under the tutoring of Long-Jun Wen. Shang-Yang has passed the ABRSM grade 8 examination in violin, viola and music theory.

While Shang-Yang was studying at Birmingham Conservatoire, he had the opportunity to attend many master classes, in which he had learned from many great masters, such as Marco Van Pagee, Garth Knox, Thomas Riebl, Luis Muniz, Nils Mönkemeyer.

Shang-Yang has a great orchestra experience as well as chamber music. He had played in many orchestra and chamber works during his time at the Conservatoire. The chamber group he was in had won a campus chamber competition. As for his orchestra experience outside the campus, he was a leader of the former Coventry Youth Orchestra (Now Coventry & Warwickshire Youth Orchestra), and had played in the CBSO Youth Orchestra on violin for three years, and the viola for two years, in both orchestra, he had receive great doctrine from the conductors and had played many great music.
